An insoluble thermoplastic or thermosetting material, such as natural or synthetic rubber, has a water-soluble radio-active substance uniformly dispersed therein in the form of an aqueous solution of the radio-active substance. The material is then treated to produce a waterinsoluble foam or sponge for use as a bandage, compress, pad or mat. The material may be coated on one side with a layer of the plastic material to prevent passage of radio-active emanations therethrough. Specification 352,757 is referred to.ALSO:Foam rubber for use as a bandage or compress is prepared from natural or synthetic rubber latex having dispersed therein an aqueous solution of a radioactive substance, e.g., radium chloride or bromide.
