The device has a unit (1) for providing flowable thermoplastic material, a hot channel tool (2) and a transport unit (4) with multiple cavities (3). The hot channel tool has a hot channel which is inserted in a surface of the hot channel tool. The transport unit has a surface, in which openings are introduced for filling the cavities. The surfaces of the hot channel tool and the transport unit are aligned against one another such that they slide against each other. An independent claim is included for a method for manufacturing plastic preforms.
