PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide glass for information recording medium substrates which has excellent weatherability. SOLUTION: The glass for information recording medium substrates contains, expressed in terms of mass% on the oxide basis, 56-70% of SiO<SB>2</SB>, 10-26% of Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0.5-8% of Li<SB>2</SB>O, 0-15% of Na<SB>2</SB>O, 0-8% of K<SB>2</SB>O, 0-6% of MgO, 0-8% of CaO, 0-6% of ZrO<SB>2</SB>, and 0.1-0.9% of F.
