A sliding support assembly 1 comprising a rail 10 of channel section defining a web 12 and first 14 and second 16 flanges. A slide cassette 40 is positioned between the flanges such that the slide cassette and the first and second flanges define a first endless track and a second endless track 80 and a plurality of bearing balls 60 is positioned within the tracks. The slide cassette comprises a body member 50 formed from extruded material. The endless tracks can comprise of longitudinal grooves (53 fig. 8) that can act as lubricant reservoirs for the tracks. The cassette may be retained within the rail by inwardly projecting portions 17 so that the cassette may only be removed at the ends of the rail. Also claimed is body member 50 for a slide cassette 40 that comprises a first and second duct 52 and a first and second concave channel 54 wherein the body member is formed from an extruded material. Also claimed are end pieces 70 for the cassette that comprise curved ducts 72 that are suitable for forming part of an endless track for bearing balls.
