<PICT:0579137/IV/1> <PICT:0579137/IV/2> A method of manufacturing a non-metallic collapsable container from an open-ended tube 14 of wet material which shrinks on drying, e.g. cellulose derivative, gelatin or polyvinyl alcohol, comprises fitting the tube over a drying mandrel 2 in such fashion that the upper end of the tube extends a short distance beyond the upper end of the mandrel and overlaps a dispensing element 10 seated thereon, whilst maintaining the tube inflated under the pressure of an inert gas, removing the pressure, drying the tube to cause the same to shrink and tightly engage the mandrel and the dispensing element, attaching the remaining elements 12, 13 of the dispensing device whilst the tube is on the mandrel, and finally forcing the tube from the mandrel by the pressure of an inert gas which is passed through conduits 3 and 7. |
