The present invention relates to multipurpose tongs including a handle with a lever engaged to one side thereof; a bar engaged with the handle at one end thereof; a tongs part hinged to the other end of the bar and operated to open or close; an operating rod inserted into the bar, with one end being connected to the handle and the other end being connected to the tongs portion; and a drive unit provided in the handle and operated in cooperation with the operation of holding or releasing the lever, by which the rotation movement is converted into the straight movement of the operating rod. The drive unit has a locking stepped portion formed at one end of the lever, a driven link engaged with one end of the locking stepped portion, hinged by a shaft pin serving as a center point of the rotation movement, and connected to the operating rod at one end thereof, and a resilient member provided in the handle and resiliently supporting a rear end of the operating rod. Therefore, a rotation force of the lever is directly transmitted to the operating rod by the driven link using a leverage effect to increase the pressing force of the lever, and thus the holding operation of the tongs is correctly carried out to improve the efficiency of work at a height position, such as a harvester for fruits. |
