Self regulating check valve

Check valve assembly 100 comprising 106 and outlet 108 ports that form an internal fluid passageway through a housing. Valve member 112 is movable within the fluid passageway and biased 110 towards a first position. Flow through the internal fluid passageway is prevented in the first position and permitted in a second. Pressure interface 116 links the valve member to a fluid on the exterior of the check valve to provide force to urge valve member 112 towards the closed position. The link to the external fluid supplements the biasing force to increase the cracking pressure. The arrangement may act to hydrostatically balance / compensate the valve member to the surrounding fluid pressure. The check valve can have a snap action mechanism which can prevent chatter of the valve and may include a magnetic element. The valve may be part of a stab connector.
