The deep-drawing packaging machine (1) has a forming station (2) that is provided for forming a trough (14) in a film (10), an insert station (3) and a sealing station (4). The sealing station is provided with a sealing tool. The retention device (20) is provided for holding the flexible and partly curved products (15) in the trough, such that a relative movement is provided between the retention device and the sealing tool along a production direction (R). An independent claim is included for a method for operating an intermittently working deep-drawing packaging machine for packing a group of flexible and partly curved products.
