The method involves operating insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) of a power inverter (20) for a predetermined time at a starting frequency greater than the maximum frequency of continuous operation. A sector voltage is applied by the inverter to inductors (I1-I3) for a predetermined duration representing the time passed between a moment in which the IGBTs are put under operation at the starting frequency and another moment in which the IGBTs are put under operation at a working frequency. An independent claim is also included for a device for supplying power to inductors associated with a cooking zone.
