An apparatus for sensing an obstacle on the lateral side of a vehicle comprises first and second obstacle sensing units, an electronic control unit, and a display unit. The first and second obstacle sensing units are separately installed on the front left and right sides of a vehicle to sense obstacles which are individually adjacent to the left and right sides and to measure the distance between the obstacles. The electronic control unit is connected to the first and second obstacle sensing units and has a calculation unit for calculating the lateral distance between the vehicle and the obstacles by receiving the measured distance between the obstacles. The display unit is connected to the calculation unit inside the vehicle to display the calculated lateral distance. |
