A method for decreasing the residual cavity in the surgical treatment of the large hepatic hydatids comprises the puncture of the hydatid, the evacuation of its content, the injection of scolecyde agent into the cavity of the cyst, the section of the wall of the cyst, the removal of the daughter cysts, the removal of the chitin capsule of the cyst, the marsupialization and the drainage of the residual cavities.
