The present invention relates to a remote control technology and, more specifically, to a remote control system with a network interface and a serial interface and a method thereof capable of continually controlling a controlled system in a remote site by automatically converting network communications into serial communications when the network communications have a problem, and capable of controlling the controlled system in the remote site through the network interface. The present invention controls the controlled system when the controlled system is connected to the control system using the network communications and the serial communications. The present invention has an advantage of consistently controlling the controlled system in the remote site by controlling the controlled system using the network communications after connecting the controlled system to the control system, and by automatically converting the network communications into the serial communications regardless of the problem of the network communications when the network communications have the problem. The present invention has an advantage of controlling the controlled system (200) in the remote site by automatically converting the serial communications (20) into the network communications (10) when the problem of the network communications is recovered.
