The invention relates to a vacuum cleaner comprising a housing consisting of a lower part with a dust collector chamber, which can be closed by means of a dust chamber cover, arranged therein. The lid can be moved from an open position, enabling a dust collector device to be removed and inserted, to a closed position wherein a wall section of the vacuum cleaner is disposed in a sealingly adjacent position along a sealing edge. In order to create a separating joint seal between a lower part of the vacuum cleaner and the cover of the dust chamber, which has a constant sealing effect even when the underpressure conditions inside the dust chamber are modified, the sealing edge is disposed adjacent to a wall section extending substantially in the direction of movement of the cover of the dust chamber when the dust chamber cover is placed in a closed position.
