The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for issuing an electronic receipt. The disclosed apparatus for issuing an electronic receipt includes: a transaction information receiving unit which receives transaction information including trading item information and payment information according to a payment by the business transaction; an identification information receiving unit which receives terminal identification information from a terminal; a sales information storage unit which stores sales information including company information related to the business transaction; a receipt information processing unit which loads the sales information from the sales information storage unit and creates receipt information processed by using receipt raw data together with the transaction information and the terminal identification information; and a receipt information transmitting unit which transmits the created receipt information to the terminal. Therefore, the cost of outputting paper receipts can be reduced from a seller′s point of view, and can provide convenience that paper receipts do not need to be stored separately from a buyer′s point of view.
