The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display device and a method for driving the same. More specifically, the objective of the present invention is to provide the liquid crystal display device and the method for driving the same, capable of analyzing input image data by each area of a panel driven by each of at least two or more source drive ICs and varying a driving voltage of an output buffer of each source drive IC according to the analysis result. To achieve the objective, the liquid crystal display device according to the present invention comprises: a panel having pixels which are formed in every cross section of gate lines and data lines; at least one or more gate drive ICs to drive the gate lines; at least two or more source drive ICs each of which includes a shift register unit, a latch unit, a digital-analog converting unit, and an output buffer, and which drive the data lines; a timing controller to analyze input image data and output a control signal to select the size of a driving voltage which is to be supplied to the output buffer included in each of the source drive ICs according to a maximum value of the input image data; and a power control unit to generate one of the driving voltages having difference sizes according to the control signal and supply the control signal to the output buffer corresponding to the control signal. |
