The present invention relates to an electronic device and a method for operating a camera module in a sleep mode. The operation method for an electronic device in a first mode includes the steps of detecting a change in pressure; detecting a change in the slope when the detected change in the pressure is more than the pre-set pressure; and converting the first mode to a second mode when the detected change in the slope is identified in a pre-set slope range.
