A security gender is connected to a universal serial bus (USB) terminal of a computer device to perform a USB communication with the computer device, and is connected to an external memory to perform a USB communication with the external memory. A security mode is set based on a security level of the computer device connected to a first interface unit and a data read or data write operation for the external memory is performed according to an instruction from the computer device based on the set security mode. The security mode includes a first security mode for prohibiting a data read and write operation for the external memory, a second security mode for allowing only a data read operation for external memory and prohibiting a data write operation for the external memory, and a third security mode for allowing both a data read operation and a data write operation for the external memory. |
