According to the invention, a device and a method for determining a position of an object, in particular a moving object, in a three-dimensional space are provided. The device comprises at least two switchable transmitting antenna groups with different vertical beam orientation and a plurality of receiving antennas arranged in a row. The transmitting antennas are arranged at a distance that corresponds to the distance of the outer phase centers of the receiving antennas. The transmitting antennas can otherwise be arranged at any position around the receiving antenna. Horizontal beam sweep across a wide angle range proceeds according to the method of digital beamforming. Vertical object position is measured by comparing the amplitudes of the signals received by sequentially switched transmitting antennas having different vertical beam directions. |
