A safety system (2) for an electronically activatable and deactivatable parking brake (4) for a vehicle (5), which system (2) is adapted to generating to said parking brake (4) a first control signal (6) which contains control instructions concerning activation or deactivation of the parking brake. The safety system is adapted to receiving an emergency signal (8), preferably from a (manually operable) emergency circuit-breaker (10) of the vehicle, and a speed signal (12) containing information about the vehicle's current speed. If an emergency signal (8) is received and the vehicle's current speed is lower than a predetermined speed threshold Vj, said first control signal (6) conveying instructions to activate the parking brake (4) is generated, and the safety system (2) is adapted to generating a second control signal (14) arranged to inactivate one or more essential systems (16) of the vehicle, e.g. to disconnect the power supply or switch off the engine, which second control signal is generated if the parking brake has been activated by the first control signal. |
