A paper medium recognition device according to the present invention comprises: a device body forming a basic frame and having a transfer path for paper media in a space inside thereof; and an align part aligning the paper media transferred along the transfer path at an align reference surface. The align part comprises: a transfer roller for moving the paper media in a direction in which the transfer path is formed; and an align roller arranged in a transverse direction of the transfer roller to move the paper media to the align reference surface, wherein the transfer roller and the align roller have a phase difference at their initial positions when the paper media is inserted to the transfer roller so that a transfer distance of the paper media moved by the align roller can be relatively longer than that of the paper media moved by the transfer roller. According to embodiments of the present invention, a transfer distance of paper media moved by the transfer align roller can be relatively longer than that of the paper media moved by the transfer roller since the align roller and the transfer roller are positioned to have a phase difference at their initial positions, whereby a length of the transfer path required for alignment as well as time for the alignment can be reduced. Thus, the utilization of an internal space of the device body can be improved and the overall size of the device can be reduced. |
