The key (1) has an outer envelope formed by half-shells (20, 20'), and accommodating an internal support (2) connected to one of the half-shells (20') and removably with the other half-shell (20) in water-tight manner. The internal support includes an opening (8) covered with a basin (11), which is made of a deformable material (E) i.e. thermoplastic elastomer. An edge (15) of the basin is attached in an edge of the opening on a surface (2b) of the internal support. The basin has a flat bottom (11f) and a lateral wall defining a depth except for deformation. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an electronic key.
