Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for determining transmission power of a node. The apparatus for determining transmission power of a node includes a function calculation unit to calculate a relation function between a wireless signal transmission distance of the node and a data throughput of the node (transmission distance-data throughput function) using a time delay at a physical layer, a time delay at an MAC layer, and a time delay at a network layer using the wireless signal transmission distance of the node as a variable; a transmission distance determination unit to determine the wireless signal transmission distance of the node using the transmission distance-data throughput function and a threshold data throughput required for the node; and a transmission power determination unit to determine the transmission power of the node using the determined wireless signal transmission distance of the node. The time delay at the network layer corresponds to a ratio of a maximum possible wireless signal transmission distance to the wireless signal transmission distance of the node serving as the variable.
