A method for terminating rights of a subscriber in a video-on-demand (VOD) system comprising a receiver, an application server, a management server, and an issuance server comprises the steps of: determining, by the management server, whether remaining purchase rights of the subscriber is to be extinguished or not; requesting, by the management server, information on an exchangeable coupon for the remaining purchase rights from the issuance server if it is determined that the remaining purchase rights is to be extinguished; receiving, by the management sever, the information on the coupon from the issuance server; providing, by the management server, the information on the coupon to the application server; transmitting, by the application server, a VOD menu and the information on the coupon to the receiver; receiving, by the application server, selection information about whether or not to issue the coupon from the receiver; requesting, by the application server, the management server to issue the coupon if the selection information indicates a coupon issuing request; and terminating, by the application server, the remaining purchase rights if the application server receives a coupon issue result in response to the coupon issue request. |
