The invention relates to endocrinology and genetic investigation methods. A method for assessment of papillary thyroid cancer risk in patients with thyroid nodules is provided for. The method comprises detection of biomarker HBME-1. High risk of develpoment of papillary thyroid cancer is assessed when expression of HBME-1 is 2.68 or higher.
