PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve formation and output of images according to characteristics of an engine for forming and outputting images without deteriorating image quality.SOLUTION: An image processing method includes the steps of: referring to nozzle characteristic information indicating characteristics of a nozzle discharging ink in an image forming apparatus; simulating a result of formation and output of images by the image forming apparatus on the basis of an image obtained through gradation conversion of an original image; converting a resulting image of the simulation into an image having gradation of pixels constituting the original image and comparing the resulting image with the original image to calculate an error; and determining, on the basis of errors calculated respectively for results of the simulation of a plurality of images subjected to gradation conversion having different conversion modes of gradation, one of the plurality of images subjected to gradation conversion as input drawing information in the image forming apparatus.
