<p>Disclosed is a system and method for monitoring and/or diagnosing operation of a production line (8, 223) of an industrial plant which is controlled by an automation system (10, 226). The system comprises a remote data processing server (6, 200) installed outside of the industrial plant (228) which is arranged to receive a digital input signal (205) reflecting the at least one control input signal (12, 222), and a digital output signal (208) reflecting the second operational state (224), determine at least a first and a second modeled state (14', 207) corresponding to the at least first and second (224) operational states, respectively, by inputting the digital input (205) and the digital output (208) signals to a digital observer model (4, 202) of the production line (8, 223) and the automation system (6, 200) and by processing the digital observer model (4, 202), and to forward the at least first and second modeled states (14', 207) to an output interface (203) from where they can be accessed by modeling and/or diagnosing modules (210, 212).</p> |
