Transaction histories of payers responsible for paying past due bills of respective patients are centrally logged and reported among a plurality of healthcare providers. The healthcare providers use the transaction history and/or respective risk level of a particular payer to screen a corresponding patient prior to providing the patient healthcare service.

An article of manufacture comprising a processor and a non-transitory computer readable medium having computer readable program code encoded therein for analyzing a transaction history of a payer, the computer readable program code comprising a series of computer readable program steps to effect:
receiving data about a past transaction of a payer towards payment of a past bill; and using a predetermined rule and the received data to determine a risk level associated with the payer paying a future bill of a first healthcare provider.
