PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a BIV vector based on a bovine immunodeficiency virus (BIV), and a BIV packaging vector; a BIV combination vector construct; and a method of transferring a gene of interest to a mammalian cell.SOLUTION: (a) The invention provides a BIV vector construct comprising a DNA segment from a BIV genome, a packaging sequence to package RNA into virions, a promoter operably linked to the DNA segment, and a transgene operably linked to a second promoter. (b) This invention further provides a BIV packaging vector construct comprising a BIV DNA sequence fragment including at least a gag or a pol gene of BIV, a promoter operably linked to the BIV DNA fragment, and a polyadenylation sequence located downstream of the BIV DNA fragment. (c) Further provided by this invention is an expression vector construct including a gene encoding a viral surface protein, and a method of transferring a gene of interest to a mammalian cell. |
