PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acrylic copolymer having small orientation birefringence and small photoelastic birefringence, when molded into a film shape, and having excellent transparency and heat resistance, and also provide an optical film including the acrylic copolymer, and a polarizing plate and a liquid crystal display device comprising the optical film.SOLUTION: This acrylic copolymer includes as constituent units therefor: 14 mass% or more and 26 mass% or less of an N-alkylmaleimide unit; 64 mass% or more and 77 mass% or less of a (meth) acrylate alkyl unit; and 1 mass% or more and 20 mass% or less of a (meth) acrylate 4-tert-butylcyclohexyl unit.
