PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide functional polypeptides.SOLUTION: The invention provides functional polypeptides, especially therapeutic polypeptides (such as scFv), and these polypeptides comprise a linker sequence which is rapidly and specifically functionalized by addition of one or a plurality of functional part (such as PEG) or binding specificity (such as amino acid sequences showing particular binding specificity). The functional polypeptides are convenient in that they show improved pharmacokinetic properties (for example, improved in vivo half-life, tissue penetration and tissue residency time) compared to non-functional polypeptides. Also provided is a method for producing functional polypeptides rapidly and reproducibly. |
