When a printing apparatus receives error information from a sheet processing apparatus while executing a print job, execution of the print job is stopped. After the execution of the print job is stopped, it is determined in accordance with the type of sheet processing apparatus whether to discharge a printing sheet on a conveyance path in the printing system.

1. A printing system comprising:
a stop unit configured to, in a case where a printing apparatus receives error information from a sheet processing apparatus while executing a print job, stop execution of the print job; a determination unit configured to determine, in accordance with a type of the sheet processing apparatus, whether to discharge a printing sheet on a conveyance path in the printing system after said stop unit stops the execution of the print job; and a discharge unit configured to, in a case where said determination unit determines to discharge the printing sheet, discharge the printing sheet on the conveyance path in the printing system while the execution of the print job is stopped.
