PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of treating a mammal patient with an autoimmune disease, comprising administering to the mammal a therapeutically effective amount of an antagonist which binds to a B lymphocyte (B cell) surface marker in lymphocytes, which are one of many types of white blood cells produced in the bone marrow during the process of hematopoiesis.SOLUTION: The present invention concerns a method of treating an autoimmune disease in a mammal with a therapeutically effective amount of an antagonist which binds to a B cell surface marker, such as CD19 or CD20. The antagonist includes an antigen.
