PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating liquid application surface with no coating liquid application defects while achieving high mass productivity.SOLUTION: A coating apparatus applies a coating liquid to a peripheral surface of an endless member and comprises: a holding member which holds the endless member; an impregnation member which is impregnated with the coating liquid, contacts with the endless member, and applies the coating liquid; a nozzle member which discharges the coating liquid to the endless member; a rotation mechanism which rotates the holding member relative to the impregnation member and the nozzle member; and a moving mechanism which moves the holding member relative to the impregnation member and the nozzle member so that the coating liquid is discharged from the nozzle member to a region of the endless member where the coating liquid is applied by the impregnation member.
