<p>A key and locking system are disclosed. The key includes a shaft having a keyway portion, with first and second oppositely facing surfaces. The keyway portion includes a plurality of recesses furnishing the first surface, at least one active element, disposed on the first surface and at least one auxiliary notch, on the second surface of the keyway portion, where auxiliary notch is adapted to accommodate an auxiliary locking pin. The diameter of the auxiliary notch is substantially larger than the diameter of the auxiliary pin; hence the mechanical strength of the shaft is purposefully weakened, rendering the shaft prone to break upon application of force thereto and conferring to the key an enhanced resistance to forceful burglary techniques.</p> |
