The present invention relates to a lane keeping assist system and a control method thereof, wherein the control method includes: a step of measuring the lateral acceleration of a vehicle when lane keeping control for actively controlling a vehicle in a correct lane ends; a step of comparing reference acceleration with lateral acceleration; and a second control step of secondarily and actively controlling steering by increasing the heading angle and vehicle speed of a vehicle when the lateral acceleration is lower than the reference acceleration. |
