PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device and a projector, in which a luminous tube is effectively cooled and damages or degradation of the luminous tube are suppressed even when the posture of the device is upside down.SOLUTION: The light source device 100 includes a luminous tube 10 having a tube 11 and a sealing portion 12a, a reflector 20 to which the luminous tube 10 is fixed, and a holding portion 30 holding the reflector 20. The holding portion 30 includes: an air intake port 32 disposed in a sideway of the luminous tube 10 and introducing cooling air in a direction approximately perpendicular to an illumination optical axis OC; a partition wall 36a disposed between the air intake port 32 and the luminous tube 10; a pair of flow passages 34, 35 disposed as branched on the partition wall 36a into an upper side and a lower side of the luminous tube 10; an opening 38 formed in the partition wall 36a; and a shutter 40 disposed in the air intake port 32 side of the partition wall 36a and rotating around a rotation axis 41 approximately parallel to the illumination optical axis OC so as to close the lower flow passage. An opening 42 is formed in the rotation axis 41 side of the shutter 40 so as to overlap the opening 38. |
