PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sintered compact having reduced reactivity with the material to be worked while maintaining its high strength and hardness, and a cutting tool having excellent wear resistance.SOLUTION: Provided is a sintered compact comprising: cubic crystal type boron nitride; a first compound; a second compound; and a third compound, in which the content of the cubic crystal type boron nitride is 35 to 93 vol.%, the volume γ of the first compound and the volume α of the second compound show the following relation of 0.2≤γ/(γ+α)<1, the total content of the first compound and the second compound is 2 to 65 vol.%, the first compound is at least either cubic crystal type sialon or cubic crystal type silicon nitride, the second compound is at least one kind of compound selected from the group consisting of α type sialon, &bgr; type sialon, α type silicon nitride and &bgr; type silicon nitride, the cubic crystal type boron nitride being grains with the average grain size of 0.5 to 5 μm, the third compound being at least one kind of element selected from the group consisting of the group 4 elements, the group 5 elements, the group 6 elements and aluminum and at least one kind of element selected from the group consisting of nitrogen, boron and carbon, and the total content of the third compound(s) is 10 to 60 vol.%. |
