METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CREATING BEAMFORMING PROFILES IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION NETWORK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for determining a beamforming profile of a second device in the communication between a first device and the second device.SOLUTION: The method comprises: transmitting a plurality of quasi-omni packets each in a particular quasi-omni pattern from a first device; and transmitting a plurality of preambles each in one of a plurality of directional patterns from the first device. The plurality of quasi-omni packets and the plurality of preambles are used to determine a beamforming profile by a second device. The method further comprises: the first device identifying a preferred direction from a plurality of directions by monitoring for a preamble transmitted from the second device using the plurality of directional patterns; and the first device transmitting a feedback comprising the preferred direction to the second device.
