The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for transmitting and receiving control messages of a GPS chip which provide an additional standard to send control information related to controlling the input point of which DGI information transmitted based on TPEG protocol and numerous input information of the GPS chip are received and input into relevant GPS chip installed on a terminal, thereby allowing received TPEG data to be stably input into the GPS chip without overburdening the normal function of a terminal or the GPS chip. By allowing the data to be input into the GPS chip at a desired point in time, the GPS chip can be stably operated and the location accuracy and positioning function of the GPS chip are also enhanced.
