PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for detecting a leak current of a battery.SOLUTION: The device includes: a floating capacitor C5 for charging a voltage detected from a cathode terminal A or an anode terminal B of a battery; a DC voltage application unit 350 for applying a DC voltage to the anode terminal side; terminal selection switching units SW1, SW2 for selecting a voltage detection route on the cathode or anode terminal side; charging switching units SW3, SW4 for separating the floating capacitor from the voltage detection route after making the floating capacitor charge the detected voltage on the cathode or anode terminal side which is detected from the voltage detection route; a voltage sensing unit 330 for sensing the detected voltage charged by the separated floating capacitor; and a leak current determination unit 340 for calculating a leak resistance with the use of the detected voltage of the cathode and anode terminals of the battery which is sensed by the voltage sensing unit and determining occurrence of a leak current by comparing the leak resistance with a reference dielectric resistance.
