PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a direction of light to be emitted from a polygonal pattern (a microlens) and the like in a liquid crystal microlens array and an illumination control device.SOLUTION: A microlens array 1 has a liquid crystal layer 11 formed between two substrates (glass substrates 101 and 102), a pattern electrode array layer 12 formed between one substrate and the liquid crystal layer and a transparent ground electrode layer 13 formed between the other substrate and the liquid crystal layer. The pattern electrode array layer 12 is composed of a matrix of a plurality of pattern electrodes forming a polygonal or round contour. Each pattern electrode (a quadrilateral pattern 14) is configured to have a contour line divided into a first electrode 141 and a second electrode 142, and the first electrode of each pattern constituting the same row or same column and the second electrode thereof are consecutively connected, respectively. A direction of light and the like are controlled by adjusting voltage of at least one of each first electrode 141 and each second electrode 142. |
