1. A computer system for managing electronic transactions, comprising:
a server computer system including:
a processor;a computer-readable medium connected to the processor;a network interface device connected to the processor; anda set of data on the computer-readable medium, including:
a data store;a plurality of consumer accounts stored in the data store by the processor, each consumer account having a respective phone number as a respective consumer account identifier;a lookup table that includes a plurality of consumer account identifiers and a plurality of phone numbers stored in the data store by the processor, each consumer account identifier in the lookup table having a respective phone number in the lookup table associated therewith;a communication and routing module including a point-of-sale gateway that receives, with the processor, a charge request over the network interface device, the charge request including an amount and a consumer account identifier, wherein the consumer account identifier in the charge request is an individual account identifier forming at least part of a personal account number;a phone number lookup module identifying, with the processor, a selected one of the phone numbers by associating the consumer account identifier received from the charge request with one of the individual account identifiers in the lookup table, and thereby identifies a selected one of the consumer accounts by associating one of the phone numbers in the lookup table with the selected phone number received from the lookup table; anda transaction processing system that processes, with the processor, the charge request based on an account detail of the selected consumer account identified by the respective phone number of the selected consumer account.
