Provided are: a blue phosphor having an emission peak wavelength different to that of blue phosphors of the prior art; a method for producing the blue phosphor; and a high-brightness light emitting device that uses said phosphor. This phosphor is a crystalline phosphor represented by the general formula, MeaRebAlcSidOeNf (wherein: Me may include strontium or barium as an essential first element, and one or more elements selected from magnesium, calcium, scandium, yttrium and lanthanum as second elements; and Re may include europium as an essential first element, and one or more elements selected from manganese, cerium, terbium, ytterbium and samarium as second elements). Furthermore, composition ratios a, b, c, d, e and f, which are elemental ratios, satisfy the following relationships: a + b = 1, 0.005 < b < 0.25, 1.60 < c < 2.60, 2.50 < d <4.05, 3.05 < e < 5.00, and 2.75 < f < 4.40. |
