<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for simulating surface features on a user interface with haptic effects.SOLUTION: Tactile sensation is simulated on a surface 110 of a user interface device 100, and a haptic output device 120 is provided configured to generate a haptic effect, such as a periodic haptic effect, at the surface 110. A drive module 130 is provided configured to generate a periodic drive signal based on a touch input at the surface 110 of the interface device 100 and based on the tactile sensation to be simulated at the surface 110. A drive circuit is provided operatively coupled to the drive module 130 and the haptic output device 120 and configured to apply the periodic drive signal to the haptic output device 120.</p> |
