The present invention relates to a self-propelled vessel intended to operate on fixed installations at sea, such as offshore wind turbines. According to the invention, the vessel notably comprises at least one set of supercapacitors (23) which is connected to the electrical power supply network (1) and can be charged by at least one electric generator set (2) to store a determined amount of electrical energy that is high enough to power at least one electric motor (8, 9) during the controlled discharge of the set of supercapacitors (23) into the electrical power supply network (1) while this motor is starting. The invention finds an application particularly in the field of offshore wind turbines.
