PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of securing a longer available time for an exhaust gas sensor while avoiding the water crack of the exhaust gas sensor downstream of a NOx catalyst due to dew condensation water.SOLUTION: The power supply of a NOx sensor 24 to a built-in heater is started when wall temperature T>dew-point temperature Tis established. When exhaust gas temperature rise control is executed, an exhaust gas temperature can rise in a shorter time than when the control is not executed. If the exhaust gas temperature rise, the wall temperature Talso rises, and so if the exhaust gas temperature can rise in a shorter time, the wall temperature Tcan also rise in a shorter time. Thus, a required time for the wall temperature Tto exceed the dew-point temperature Tcan be shortened from tto t. As a result, the power supply to the built-in heater can be started earlier. |
