852,278. Magnetic information storage apparatus. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION. Nov. 16, 1956 [Nov. 21, 1955], No. 18409/60. Divided out of 850,342. Class 40 (9). A magnetic core memory array comprises a stack of discs 310, Figs. 1 and 2, each supporting annular magnetic cores 316 around the periphery in equally spaced recessed pockets 312, the array wiring being associated with the cores by aligning columns of cores in the stack of discs, Fig. 6, and passing through the X co-ordinate wires, rotating the discs so that the X wires lie in a spiral path, Fig. 7, and repeating the operation, first for the Y co-ordinate wires, Fig. 8, and then for the read-out and inhibit wires S, Z. The discs are each formed with an integral spacing ring and are stacked on a bolt 323 and secured by nuts 325, each end of the stack being provided with a terminal plate 324 having concentric terminals 328 for the array wiring. Holes 320 and 326 are provided respectively in the discs and plates for accommodating return sections of wires which are not to be passed through the columns of cores in alternate directions. |
