The present invention allows a user to measure a predetermined portion of a foodstuff such as rice or pasta and cook in a receptacle in a small pan of boiling water. The cooking receptacle comprises a first housing part 10 having an opening therein defining a cavity; a second housing part 20 having an opening therein defining a cavity; and, closure means for joining the first and second parts together, at least one of the first or second housing parts having and a plurality of apertures or holes 30 for permitting the passage through of water. The first and second parts may be joined by a snap-fit connection or a resilient coupling. The first and second parts may be manufactured, for example, from plastic, silicone or stainless steel. The first and second parts may be weighted and the weight may be magnetic. |
