This object aims to provide a method whereby a collagen gel being similar to the higher structure of an actual organ can be prepared by controlling the orientation and layered structure of collagen fibers. A collagen solution containing a crosslinking agent is cast along a first casting direction and turned into a gel to form a lower gel layer. Next, the lower gel layer is rotated by an angle of more than 0o but not more than 180o with respect to the first casting direction and then a collagen solution is cast on the lower gel layer, which has been rotated, along the first casting direction and turned into a gel to form an upper gel layer. According to this method, a layered collagen gel having a structure substantially being similar to the corneal stroma can be prepared, which is useful in the ophthalmic field as a regenerative medical technique substituting for corneal transplantation. |
