The lock has a lock pawl (2) whose locking engagement with a latch bolt (1) is lifted from the locked state, when the lock pawl is biased against digging direction. A controller (12) performs opening operation in digging direction by applying electric input power over a motor supporting portion to remove biasing of lock pawl from locked state and to release in the released state, by which the applied average electric input power over the motor supporting portion is less than the specific average electrical input power of motor supporting portion. An independent claim is included for method for operating motor car lock.
